An IP address also known as Internet Protocol address is a unique row of numbers that some electronic devices use to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network utilizing a network connection.
A network can contain more devices like: computers, modems, fax machines, phones, scanners, printers, access points, routers, wireless stuff. To communicate between them all these components they need a “serial number” – in our case IP addresses. Some IP addresses are intended to be unique within the scope of the global Internet, while others need to be unique only within the scope of an enterprise.
